Spring snowfall can set a record

In February hikers venturing above treeline find
that the peaks are more wintry than they usually are.
They should be prepared. Climbers get the cold shoulder.
The snow is still waist-deep in places, and the trail is buried.
Some climbers listen —  but some climbers don’t.
Tuesday, we left camp early,
expecting to cover the remaining miles to the top before noon.
