Is It Going to Be Completely Sunny Again?

Yes…but not too likely in the near future. We have a stubborn and nearly stationary upper level low that is keeping us partly to mostly cloudy with the ever present chance of showers and thunderstorms. Most of the days aren’t complete washouts, just not completely sunny or dry. Having said that, tomorrow has the potential.

Time off in France for a couple of days

I do speak French and would eagerly visit France and stay shortly at the  holiday compound in Marcel.
Me, who rarely vacations outside the country since taking new post at work, will take time off in France, as long as I can go mountain biking.  Of course there’re spectacular spots around there and great places to relax.

I am an avid enthusiast of the sport.

Hikers alarmed by rainy weather

23 inches of rain had fallen this early afternoon in valley. With about 14 inches in the mountains
Fast-moving thunderstorms brought new waves of rain, following days of drenching weather, heavy mountain snowfall and raising fears of mudslides and flooding. The worst of the storm is not over, but Monday promised to bring a spell of clear weather, forecasters said. Things will start to die down as the night goes on, said weather service forecast.

Wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph are reported in some areas.

it’s probably time to tune up the ski after all the running

The final seasonal gettogether  took place at 10:30 p.m. in  the base village.
With all the fine snow on hand, it was easy to rough up the edges when you run on hard packed stuff. So all got quick rundown on waxing and tuning. The same technique is used for both skis and boards.

Spring snowfall can set a record

In February hikers venturing above treeline find
that the peaks are more wintry than they usually are.
They should be prepared. Climbers get the cold shoulder.
The snow is still waist-deep in places, and the trail is buried.
Some climbers listen —  but some climbers don’t.
Tuesday, we left camp early,
expecting to cover the remaining miles to the top before noon.
